CO2 Emissions

On the 12th of December 2015, world leaders met in Paris, France, and agreed to adhere to a way forward on how the globe would cut greenhouse gas emissions in unison. It was dubbed the Paris Climate Agreement. It sought to try to prevent global temperatures from rising by more than 1.5C.

In light of this, we look at how Kenya has been fairing in comparison to a few select African countries. According to the latest World Bank data, Kenya's CO2 emissions stood at 19,447 Kilotons in 2020. The country with the second highest carbon emissions within the Eastern African Region during the same year was Ethiopia at 18,098 Kilotons (Kt).
